Prescient Pondering: Fatty Transport

When I am sitting in the disabled/seniors bench on the Metro, how fat does a person have to be for me to give up my seat?

If there are two of us on the bench, and it is clear that one seat will not be enough to fit your ponderous corpulence, do we both have to get up?

  • I think a good rule of thumb is, if they appear to be fat enough to require frequent use of a reaching broom or washing themselves with a rag on a stick, they would need two seats. However, if you just say, "I'm sorry, sir, but Metro doesn't have seats to accommodate men of your... carriage" they should just stand.

But if they're old and fat, give it up.

    Am I obesist?
